Dog Clothes for Winter

Author: karenida

yhst-12096210823712_1989_92807981.jpgWhen the weather turns cold and you are ordering new sweaters and coats and boots, don’t forget your good friend.  The smaller dogs for sure need winter clothes and the larger dogs may enjoy a little extra warmth too.

The small and tiny dogs have very thin skin and will be cold when they go outside in the winter.  They may even be chilly in the house, especially if you keep the heat low.  A sweater or sweatshirt is good for wearing in the house if the dog is chilly.  This also is fine for cooler evenings and mornings anytime.  But when winter sets in the warm dog coats are a necessity.  Make sure they fit well and don’t dig into the dog’s skin.

When it is cold your little dog will want boots to keep his paws warm and protect him from the ice and snow and salt.

Measure carefully before ordering dog clothes.

If your dog is new to dog clothing and boots it will most likely be necessary to introduce him slowly.  Show him the item, praise him and give him a treat.  work with him for a few minutes each day using the praise and treats until he is ready to leave the clothing and boots on.

You can fill the stocking with lots of goodies that your dog will love.   Of course this is another photo opportunity, with your dog, under the tree with his stocking and maybe even in a dog christmas sweater

Taking the Lead

When purchasing a leash for a puppy or for a full grown dog, you will want to make a few considerations before you base a choice on cosmetic appeal.  First of all, you will want a dog lead which will support the size of the dog you own.  Though it’s unlikely a thinner leash made out of nylon or leather would break, it is possible.  You will also want to consider that a puppy will chew a leash, and some larger dogs will too, so a chain or leather lead may hold up better than one made of nylon, at least until you break them of the habit of chewing.

You will also want a quality lead with stainless steal metal that is well sewn.  Poor quality leads will rust, and can also fall apart if not sewn together properly.

Puddle Hopping with My Dog!

Whenever I go outdoors with my little dog Sadie, I make sure to bring her rain coat.  During the autumn months where I live, there tends to be a lot of sudden showers.  Sadie and I love to go over to the soccer fields and throw the frisbee, but we often head home if it starts raining.  With her dog raincoat, Sadie and I can stay out as long as we like, although once her paws start to turn black with mud we head home.

Sadie’s raincoat is also great for the beach where it keeps her fur protected from all the salt spray (I don’t let her go in the water).

When you go out shopping be sure she has on her dress and her jeweled collar.  You will be so proud of her as everyone stops you to admire her.

Dog Fleece Jacket

yhst-12096210823712_2026_72822497.jpgFleece is soft and comfortable and very easy to care for.  It is extremely warm but is fairly light weight.

A dog fleece jacket is good for all of those reasons and can keep your dog warm until quite cold weather.  It can also be worn around the house if you like to keep your heat low in the winter, especially for the thin skinned little dogs.

Costumes for All Occasions

It’s a shame for your dog to only wear his or her Halloween costume one day a year.  I’ve found that having your dog in costume for all kinds of family events not only makes him or her the center of attention, but illustrates your commitment to fashion.  After Halloween is also a great time to buy dog Halloween costumes at a discount.  I found a delightful hotdog costume that I used for a summer barbeque, and a priest costume I used for an Easter Sunday get together.

Dog costumes are great for all occasions, your pet appreciates the attention, and you get recognition for your fashion efforts.

Fashionable Dogs

Author: PawsCause

animal-print-dog-collarIf your dog is like mine, he hates being dressed up.  Even if I put a scarf on him the first thing he does is rub against the furniture trying to get it off.  The only thing he doesn’t hate wearing is his collar, and I think that’s just because there’s no easy way for him to remove it.  I wanted him to be at least a little fashionable, so I bought him a unique dog collar with a zebra print in celebration of his stubbornness.

I found that amongst dog collars, there really is an option for every kind of personality and attitude.  Now that he’s not just plain old Jackie all the time, I feel better.

yhst-12096210823712_2025_64378395.jpgDog Christmas Sweaters are a lot of fun.  Not only will they keep your dog warm, but for parties your pet will look so cute!

For Christmas pictures, with everyone dressed in their new sweaters, you’ll want to include your dog in the new Christmas sweater.
